FRANKFURT (Thomson Financial) - European Central Bank Vice-President Lucas Papademos said it is "too early to say" if the real economy in the euro zone has been affected by the turmoil in the financial markets worldwide.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a symposium, Papademos also said the ECB however is still holding on to its baseline growth scenario on the region.

"We still believe on our baseline scenario is still progressing, even if somewhat protracted. A return to more normal conditions in the financial markets is a likely one," he said.
